Project Controlling

Project controlling can be understood as the processes and rules which play a part in project management, ensuring that the project goals are reached. The most important pre-requisite for project controlling is a realistic project plan.

These processes range from data entry to comparing the plan data and checking for deviation to assessing the consequences and contributing to plans for counter-measures and their supervision.

In this way the project controlling function can ensure that the project is successful through independent control of the schedule and costs.

For larger projects the project controlling function should not be carried out by the project manager but by an independent project controller.
